Hammamet, Tunisia — South Africa’s golfers produced one of the most dramatic final-round comebacks in recent memory, overturning an eight-shot deficit to win the 2026 All Africa Team Championship at Citrus Golf Club Les Oliviers on Saturday.

Entering the final 18 holes trailing Morocco, the defending champions looked in serious danger of relinquishing their crown. But South Africa saved their finest golf for the last day, with debutant Jono Wilsenach and Judd Sundelson both firing superb 6-under 66s to lead the charge, while CJ van Wyk and Ivan Verster contributed steady rounds. The Proteas finished with a team total of 624, edging Morocco (628) by four shots.

GolfRSA summed up the mood on social media: “Eight shots back. Never out of the fight. Team South Africa saved their best for last… Protea pride. What a team!”

Zambia completed the podium in third place with 646, while Reunion Island and host nation Tunisia shared fourth on 650.

Andrade Takes Individual Honours

The individual title went to Seychelles’ Adrian Andrade, who carded an 11-under 205 over 54 holes to win by three strokes. Wilsenach finished second on 208, with Sundelson and Morocco’s Reda El Hali tied for third on 209.

Kenya (667) finished sixth, Zimbabwe (669) seventh, and Uganda eighth with 671. Egypt (677) and Seychelles (679) rounded out the top ten.

Omollo Re-Elected AGC President

Omollo stood unopposed, receiving the endorsement of 18 member countries present, with backing from 31 nations in total. The election was also endorsed by The R&A, golf’s world governing body.
