By Johnson Omollo, President, Africa Golf Confederation
When I stood before the General Assembly in Hammamet, I said that this was not my victory — it was Africa’s victory. I meant it then, and I mean it now.
I want to use this first column, on this new home for African golf, to speak plainly to every one of you: to the presidents of our member federations, to the players who carry our flag at championships, to the juniors practicing on dusty ranges from Kampala to Casablanca, and to the partners who are beginning to see what we see.
“This is not my victory; it is Africa’s victory. We will champion Pan-Africanism through golf.”
Why This Website Matters
For too long, our story has been told by others. A newspaper reports a championship result. A broadcaster mentions a name. And then it is gone. The Africa Golf Confederation now has its own home — a place where our news, our calendar, and the work of every member nation sit side by side, under one roof.
This platform is not decoration. It is an instrument of the agenda we set for 2026–2030. It is where we will report on the partnership with the Arab Golf Federation — on coach and referee exchanges, on youth and women’s golf, on the competitions we will build together. It is where sponsors will find us, and where we will find each other.
Every Nation Counts
Look at the Nations Desk. Every member federation has a page. Uganda has one. Kenya has one. Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, Mauritius, Seychelles — all of them. Whether your federation has forty clubs or four, you have a place on the continental stage.
I have said before that Africa must mobilise its own resources rather than wait for external support. That belief is built into this platform. Strong participation in events like the All-Africa Junior Team Championship is how we secure development grants and build tomorrow’s champions. And now, every federation can publish its news, its calendar, and its achievements where the whole continent — and the world — can see them.
Our Next Steps
In the coming months, we will:
- Publish a single continental calendar, so no federation, player or sponsor is left guessing what is happening and where.
- Operationalise our cooperation agreement with the Arab Golf Federation, with the details reported here first.
- Grow the Nations Desk so that every one of our 31 member nations is represented and active.
- Begin a continental ranking that recognises the players who are raising the standard of African golf.
A Word of Thanks
To the Presidents and federations who endorsed this mandate — thank you. To His Lordship the Mayor of Hammamet and the Tunisian authorities who hosted a record All Africa Team Championship — thank you. To the R&A, for its endorsement and its continued partnership — thank you.
One Africa, One Golf!
